The Iowa Mavericks Basketball club is suspending all tournaments through April 12th, 2020.  Practices will be monitored and updates will be given soon regarding official start of practice.  We hope to be able to start practicing within the next two weeks.

We have worked hard this week assessing options internally and gathering feedback from the CDC and IDPH websites and other club directors.  Based on the information we currently have, the 2020 Spring/Summer season will begin the week of April 13th.  Current Iowa Mavericks families are asked to check their email weekly for more detailed information regarding changes to the 2020 season.

During this time we ask all Iowa Mavs families to be flexible.  We will do our best to monitor the constantly changing suggestions of the CDC and IDPH in an effort to provide the most safe and best experience for all.

Starting in the Spring of 2018, the Mavericks will join the elite in action.  The NY2LA Association, is a league of roughly 15-20 teams from across the country.  It will consist of three required tournaments (locations to be announced at a later date), which will be "league play".

We will be bringing our "Select" teams (rosters TBD) to these three events, at the 15U (2021), 16U (2020) and 17U (2019) levels.   The league consists of two other programs from Iowa (Martin Brothers & Quad City Elite), and many teams from the Midwest & as far away as Australia.  

"This opportunity will be a great one for our organization.  We do it all for the kids, and for the right reasons", said Tyler Cleveland, Executive Director of the Mavericks.  "NY2LA runs the best tournaments around, and we wouldn't want to be playing anywhere else.  Our programs culture has changed over the past year, and we are raising the bar for our competition level.  This league will bring a different atmosphere for our players, and I truly believe we will be ready for it come April when we kick it off".

Mavericks Co-Program Director, Trent Gosnell added, "It is a big opportunity for us.  NY2LA is a very prestigious name and gives our program a way to measure where we're at.  We are all excited as coaches and players to be able to compete at a high level, with some of the best competition around".

We will be releasing the schedule for the Association the early part of the new year.

The Iowa Mavericks Basketball Club will hold tryouts for incoming 7th-11th graders, in the 2017-18 school year.  

Our first tryout date will be held on Saturday August 5th, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Iowa City West High School.  Please fill out the prospect page at www.iowamavs.com/prospect, and coaches will contact you with more information prior to the tryout!

7th-9th Grade          11:00 AM-1:30 PM
10th-11th Grade     1:30 PM-4:00 PM

There will be a $20 tryout fee, which will be collected either at the gym, OR via online payment, in the coming weeks.

The Iowa Mavericks Basketball Club is a premier AAU travel basketball program in the state of Iowa.  In 2018, the Mavericks will be a Jordan Brand basketball program, head to toe.
